“All-Out Anti-Phishing” Moving Showroom Campaign Collaborates with DinDong to Promote Cyber Security
The Hong Kong Computer Emergency Response Team Coordination Centre (HKCERT) of the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) will hold the first season of moving showroom promotional campaign themed "All-Out Anti-Phishing” from 26 June to 2 July, to interact with the community in an innovative way using a moving showroom vehicle. HKCERT collaborates with DinDong, a popular local cartoon character for the first time to design a moving showroom, and will visit various places in Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and the New Territories, to raise public awareness on phishing attacks through vivid and interesting daily life examples.
In recent years, cyber phishing attacks have become more frequent, complex and diverse, affecting every aspect of daily life from work to personal life. HKCERT handled a total of 2,946 phishing-related cases last year, 21% lower than in 2021, but the number of URLs involved (15,736 links) increased by 4%, with more than 60% of them related to e-commerce, online banking, and cryptocurrency. Recently, HKCERT also noticed that attackers are using phishing messages and creating phishing websites that pretend to be local online platforms and recruitment agencies, aiming to steal users’ credentials and collect sensitive personal information such as credit cards and bank details, etc. Hence, HKCERT is launching an anti-phishing themed moving showroom, to reach out to the public and raise their cyber security awareness and enhance their defence capabilities against phishing through information boards and interactive games in the moving showroom via citywide visits.

Data show that hackers are now targeting victims through online services or platforms commonly used in daily life, tricking people into opening phishing websites and stealing sensitive personal information. Through this campaign, HKCERT hopes to reach out to the community and educate the public on preventing cyber phishing attacks. Also, HKCERT is collaborating with DinDong for the first time, hoping to present cyber security information vividly for easier understanding. HKCERT will continue to actively study the trends of cyber-attacks and security technologies and assist the community in tackling the ever-changing security challenges through various channels."
Mr Daniel CHEUNG, Deputy Government Chief Information Officer (Acting) of the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO), said, “In the age of digitalisation, diversified and innovative Internet applications may bring cyber security risks and challenges. The Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Development Blueprint promulgated by the HKSAR Government last year clearly stated that we should implement measures and initiatives on all fronts, covering community support, talent development and cooperation with the Mainland and international communities, etc., and proactively collaborate with all stakeholders to jointly enhance the awareness of various sectors on cyber security and boost their defence capabilities. This serves to address effectively the risks arising from cyber security threats, with a view to protecting our society, economy and people’s livelihood, maintaining public safety, as well as maintaining a secure and reliable cyberspace. With our collaboration with HKCERT and various other channels, the OGCIO aims to enhance the ability of the public to avoid cyber pitfalls, recognise the authenticity of information and protect themselves from cyber security threats.”
The "All-Out Anti-Phishing" moving showroom campaign will last for six months, visiting nine locations in Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and the New Territories, including commercial and residential hotspots. The showroom will be stationed at the Wan Chai Computer Centre on 26 June as the first stop. Members of the public are welcome to join. 2. Under the theme of DinDong Superman defeating online phishing pirates, the design of the HKCERT moving showroom vehicle aims to raise public awareness of phishing attacks through vivid and interesting daily life examples.
3. The information boards in the moving showroom educate the public how to defend against phishing attacks and raise public awareness of cyber security and information security, through user-friendly information and interactive games.
